The Full Story

Many Tissot tool watches from the 1970s have reflected the era’s fun and bold design elements, and this example is no exception. First off, the large tonneau steel case cannot be ignored; measuring approximately 41mm across, it carries a certain presence on your wrist. This model came in various colors, from a daring silver dial with light blue and orange accents to a more conservative panda dial version. We think that this black dial version is the best of both worlds; just enough accent with the red hands and funky, fully lumed, thick indexes against the more traditional tool watch black dial. Fitted with a Valjoux caliber 7734, it has the pedigree of many of the mainstream chronographs that were produced during this period. Also, the watch shares some similar design elements with the good-looking Heuer Viceroy model at a fraction of the cost.

What we Love and What You Should Know

Overall this watch is in nice vintage condition. The case is well maintained with some light scratches and possibly a light polish (the satin and polished areas are correctly finished). The crown and pusher appear to original. The crown is unsigned. The bezel is overall crisp with very minor wear around the edges but all the printed numerals and hash marks still remain. The dial is very clean. The thick lume on the indexes have all changed into an even creamy vanilla color without any loss, which truly makes this watch. The handset appears to be original and the lume is fully intact with matching color with the indexes.
